Surgical Services Department
The EMH Surgical Services Department, under the direction of Angela S. Johnson, provides inpatient and outpatient surgical care for our community.
The department's expertise in the area of general surgery includes laparoscopic procedures, colorectal procedures, hernia repair, breast biopsy and mastectomy procedures and appendectomies. Additional services include colonoscopy and upper GI procedures. These procedures are performed by our local general surgeon, Dr. William K. Haley. Dr. Haley introduced a cutting edge procedure, known as the PPH procedure, for the stapling of Hemorrhoidal tissue here at EMH. The procedure has been so successful, it is now being performed at other area hospitals.
The department assists Dr. David Hagins with a full range of gynecological procedures, including the SLING procedure for urinary incontinence, hysterectomies, and vaginal reconstruction.
Other specialty surgeries provided at EMH include urology procedures, performed by Dr. Eugene Rodillo. Eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser procedures are performed by ophthalmologists, Dr. Ray Freeman and Dr. Alex Keller. Additionally, orthopedic services, such as knee and hip replacement, are offered by orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Richard Davis.
The staff consists of six Registered Nurses, two Licensed Practical Nurses, and one Surgical Technician. Anesthesia providers include Dan McAlvin, CRNA and Scott Ingram, CRNA. The highly experienced surgical team focuses on leadership in safe patient care with a personal touch to make you feel right at home.
