Auxiliary members honored for service

The Annual Service Awards Luncheon for the Elbert Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was held on Nov. 5 at the Elberton Country Club.

Special guest, designer and television personality, Mark Ballard presented the program and brought much humor to the audience as he made a Holiday Wreath. Auxiliary President Martha Ivester welcomed the Auxilians and Cheryl Hutto introduced the five new Auxiliary members this year: Martha Cole, Debra Evans, Patsy Griffith, Connie Malik, Nancy Powers and Brenda Starrett. Service award pins were given out by Mary Aston and Mary Alice Lee, Chairpersons for the Volunteer Services Committee. Tom Brown, new CEO of Elbert Memorial Hospital, assisted in giving out the service pins.

Those receiving pins were:

500 Hours: Beth Johnson, Mary Roberts and Darlene Jones
1,000 Hours: Charlotte Carter and Suraiya Razzak
1,500 Hours: Willene Grant and Dolores Jefferson
2,000 Hours: Sandra Smith and Doris Thomason
2,500 Hours: Martha Ivester, Frances Gilbert and Cheryl Hutto
4,000 Hours: Emma Conger
5,500 Hours: Mary Aston and Betty Safrit

The Auxiliary selected the Holiday Wreath that Mark Ballard had made during his program as their door prize. It was won by Sandra Smith, Treasurer for the EMH Auxiliary. She later gave the wreath to the Auxiliary Gift Shop, and it is now being raffled and the winning ticket will be drawn on Dec. 19. Tickets may be purchased for $1 at the EMH Auxiliary Gift Shop.
